Day 207 (6.9 months)

Happy New Year folks!!! 2020 is here!!!
Feeling excited cause there's lot that I want to share :)

First of all, photos.
It's approaching 7 months now since my transplant procedure.
The transplanted area grows really well...in fact, I can even have 'hairstyle' now
which was totally impossible few months back before the transplant.

As the transplanted area grows thicker, the crown area looks comparatively 'empty'
which lead to my second point: What should I do with the crown area?

I did consulted doctor 2 weeks back when I visited clinic for a follow-up session.
There are a few options available but I think I will go with 3 or 4 more PRP treatments (doctor suggested once every two months) and then scalp micro pigmentation, which is some kind of hair tattoo.
This tattoo will create an illusion of thicker hair density, in a harmless way and will last for 4 to 5 years.
This is also the most 'budget' way to achieve better look after my discussion with doctor.

Here comes my third point: What would I do differently if I was given a second chance?
I would definitely go for the maximum number of harvest-able grafts since the result has been promising and better than expectation so far. Just a thought that I want to share with you folks. If you are planning to go for one and you found the right clinic, just go all in!

Will keep you guys posted on the update and wish you all a good year ahead!

  1. Congrats for your new hair. It's a long journey indeed for people like us.
I just came back from the PRP procedure. As you said , it was pain.haha

Today is my 30th days after the HT. Before going to PRP, I think I still had 70% of my transplanted hair. That's why the colleagues noticed something happening to my hairlines.
After took all the procedure and washed the scalp, many transplanted hair fall out in the process, now
less than 50% I think. As doc said, this is temporary shedding.

My crown also look "empty" and thinning hairs but I don't want to do another HT. Enough for me.

    1. The shedding can be devastating at first, but eventually they will grow back, more than before. I am not planning to do another transplant as well. I am putting my trust in PRP treatments and the regular medication.

Really nice to have someone to go through this together :)

    4. Thanks for your answer.
      I've another question.
Do you expose your scalp under the direct sunlight? When I walk into my car everyday I expose my scalp without the cap or hat protection but not more than 3 minutes.

As for the syampoo, I wash my hair on alternate day using organic syampoo and switch with nizoral syampoo because my hair is quite dry.

    5. Hi, I try to avoid direct sunlight expose as much as possible, especially the first few months where the hair is still short. I think washing on alternative day is fine as long as you keep it clean 😉

  2. Hi tom, since the result is very good, did you consider (or did your doc recommend) a 2nd hair transplant to thicken existing area or to lower the hairline?

    1. Hi, I think I still some remaining grafts that I can harvest for second transplant but I don't think I will go for it....at least for now. Quite happy with the result now. Are you planning to do or you already did one?

    1. Hi, I think one week is quite sufficient if you are unable to get 2 weeks break. Why not go all in with your first procedure if you are confident with the clinic? You can save the trouble of going through the whole process again :) Plus I think it's best to do it when you still have good amount of grafts to harvest from. Just my opinion.

Day 371 (1 Year !!!)

Hope everyone is doing fine. It is really shocking how one virus can affect so many things and even changed the way we live. The biggest take away for me is to live life to fullness because you won't know when will be the last... Ok back to progress. I have taken some photos back in June where it hit a year since my surgery and here they are. It definitely changed the landscape of my hair and also my overall look especially from the front. Implanted hair feels less disrupting now and become more natural compared to before. It may sound cheesy but I do feel more confident in front of people...this is by far the best decision I ever made in my life...for real. Not trying to promote anything but now might be even a better time to get transplant as we are spending most of the time at home which create a perfect time to let the hair grow and surprise others with new look after this pandemic is finally over. Just a thought that crossed my mind while I am writing this. I just did another

Clinic Visit @ KL/PJ (incl. pricing & photo)

As mentioned on my previous post, I had visited 4 clinics in KL/PJ that offer hair transplant (FUE). Let's go through one by one, shall we? 1. Beverly (PJ) Consultation time: Around 30 mins (charged RM60)   Consultation content: Brief explanation on hair loss, estimation on grafts needed. Good: Clinic provides other services as well: cosmetic surgery, dental & etc.  Not so good: No so clear on the cost of total package including medicine, PRP & etc. Surgical team is not from local which requires advance booking.  2. Premier (KL) Consultation time: Around 45 mins (FOC) Consultation content: Detailed explanation on hair loss, estimation on grafts needed. Good: Was consulted by the surgical doctor himself who was able to explain the whole procedure in detail. Clear cost break down on the whole package. Not so good: Premium price. 3. Inder (PJ) Consultation time: Around 30 mins (FOC) Consultation content: Hair scalp analysis, brief explanation on hair lo

Day 324 (10+ Months)

So much has happened over the past few months. Hope everyone is safe and coping well with the 'New Norm'. We will get through this together! It's almost 11 months now since my hair transplant procedure back in Jun last year. Was planning to have another PRP session last month but got stuck at home instead. Anyway let's see some photos update.  Hair on the front is growing really well over time, especially the middle front area where most of the healthy hair follicles were planted. It's definitely noticeable now on how long the hair had grown. Transplanted hair seems to be a little bit thicker than original hair around and can be styled just like normal hair. Will need more work on the crown area to balance out the overall hair density. It's a slow process but I am glad it is making progress. Everything's been good so far. I only put on shampoo once in every two to three days ever since announcement of restriction order. Everyone st
