The Day of Procedure! (with photos)

Yes I chose to go with DHI for my hair transplant.
Why? Because of the professional consultation, reasonable price & 49 years of global reputation.
(You can revisit my previous post: Clinic Visit @ KL/PJ (incl. pricing & photo) for detail comparison on clinics.)

OK let's start with what I had gone through for the day.

9:00 to 10:00
- Preparation
(Signed consent letter, took few pills, changed into surgical gown, shaved hair & took photos.)

10:00 to 13:00
- Extraction of grafts from donor area (3 hours)

13:00 to 13:30
- Lunch Break (Lunch provided by clinic)

13:30 to 16:30
- Placement of grafts on bald area (3 hours)

Although there was almost zero pain during the extraction (except when doctor injected anesthesia), it was really not comfortable to lay with face down on the bed for 3 hours, especially on the face area where the pressure concentrates. I remembered dozing off a few times since there was nothing much I can do stuck in that position.

This was right after the extraction where donor area was covered with bandage.

Bald area for placement was highlighted with pen.

It's a whole different story when it comes to placement. Despite the injection of anesthesia, I still felt minor pain when doctor was placing hair grafts on the hairline. But in exchange I got to lay on the bed comfortably and watch Netflix on TV the whole time.

This was right after the placement. Most of the grafts were placed at the hairline area and the remaining were placed at the crown area.

I was advised to not have any sort of workout for the next 10 days, avoid smoking for 14 days and avoid direct sun exposure & swimming for 30 days. Basically just do nothing and rest at home until the grafts stabilize. I was also given a saline solution to spray on the implanted area every 30 minutes until Day 3 after procedure.

Can't say I enjoyed the procedure but it was a pleasant experience thanks to Dr. Nicholas and his nurse.

Stay tuned as I will do a daily post update. My journey just started. Cheers~

Day 371 (1 Year !!!)

Hope everyone is doing fine. It is really shocking how one virus can affect so many things and even changed the way we live. The biggest take away for me is to live life to fullness because you won't know when will be the last... Ok back to progress. I have taken some photos back in June where it hit a year since my surgery and here they are. It definitely changed the landscape of my hair and also my overall look especially from the front. Implanted hair feels less disrupting now and become more natural compared to before. It may sound cheesy but I do feel more confident in front of people...this is by far the best decision I ever made in my life...for real. Not trying to promote anything but now might be even a better time to get transplant as we are spending most of the time at home which create a perfect time to let the hair grow and surprise others with new look after this pandemic is finally over. Just a thought that crossed my mind while I am writing this. I just did another

Clinic Visit @ KL/PJ (incl. pricing & photo)

As mentioned on my previous post, I had visited 4 clinics in KL/PJ that offer hair transplant (FUE). Let's go through one by one, shall we? 1. Beverly (PJ) Consultation time: Around 30 mins (charged RM60)   Consultation content: Brief explanation on hair loss, estimation on grafts needed. Good: Clinic provides other services as well: cosmetic surgery, dental & etc.  Not so good: No so clear on the cost of total package including medicine, PRP & etc. Surgical team is not from local which requires advance booking.  2. Premier (KL) Consultation time: Around 45 mins (FOC) Consultation content: Detailed explanation on hair loss, estimation on grafts needed. Good: Was consulted by the surgical doctor himself who was able to explain the whole procedure in detail. Clear cost break down on the whole package. Not so good: Premium price. 3. Inder (PJ) Consultation time: Around 30 mins (FOC) Consultation content: Hair scalp analysis, brief explanation on hair lo

Day 324 (10+ Months)

So much has happened over the past few months. Hope everyone is safe and coping well with the 'New Norm'. We will get through this together! It's almost 11 months now since my hair transplant procedure back in Jun last year. Was planning to have another PRP session last month but got stuck at home instead. Anyway let's see some photos update.  Hair on the front is growing really well over time, especially the middle front area where most of the healthy hair follicles were planted. It's definitely noticeable now on how long the hair had grown. Transplanted hair seems to be a little bit thicker than original hair around and can be styled just like normal hair. Will need more work on the crown area to balance out the overall hair density. It's a slow process but I am glad it is making progress. Everything's been good so far. I only put on shampoo once in every two to three days ever since announcement of restriction order. Everyone st
